The second event organized within the new series of UNESCOMED conferences and debates was an inspiring conference entitled “From data to action: the challenge of taking effective decisions for biodiversity conservation”. This conference was also included in the program of the inauguration of the new academic year of our International University Campus for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves.
Bringing biodiversity data and research closer to conservation decision-making is a complicated challenge. Many times, it implies adopting strategies for the generation, analysis, interpretation and communication of the results, which are also adapted to the needs and requests of the managers. Gerard Bota, Deputy Head of the Landscape Dynamics and Biodiversity program at the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), addressed some of these aspects during the conference, and finished with a period of Q&A to further discuss these topics with the audience.
The conference was broadcasted online, and the video is now available in English:
